Leaky gut! What is it and how can colonics help

Did you know that your gut is home to around 70% of your immune system? When it’s not functioning properly, it can affect everything – from your energy levels to your mood and even your skin. One common issue many people face (often unknowingly) is leaky gut.

Leaky gut, or intestinal permeability, happens when the lining of the intestines becomes damaged, allowing toxins, undigested food, and bacteria to “leak” into the bloodstream. This can trigger inflammation and lead to a range of symptoms including bloating, brain fog, fatigue, food sensitivities, skin issues, and more.

So, where do colonics come in?

Colonics, also known as colon hydrotherapy, involves gently flushing the colon with warm, filtered water to help remove built-up waste, toxins, and gas. While colonics don’t directly heal the gut lining, they can support the body’s natural detoxification processes and reduce the toxic load that contributes to gut inflammation.

Here’s how colonics may support a healing gut:

  • Encourages regular elimination to prevent waste buildup that can worsen gut irritation

  • Reduces harmful bacteria and yeast that may contribute to inflammation

  • Improves nutrient absorption by clearing blockages and allowing the digestive system to function more efficiently

  • Supports detox pathways that take pressure off an overburdened gut and liver

Of course, colonics are just one part of the puzzle. A gut-healing approach involves the right nutrition, stress management, and sometimes functional testing or supplementation. But many people find that incorporating regular colonics helps them feel lighter, clearer, and more in tune with their body.
